BONSTETTEN
HOUSING PROJECT – BONSTETTEN, SWITZERLAND
Competition 2009 – 2nd Prize
This housing complex has been commissioned by a developer for a village near Zürich with a large traditional housing stock and very strict building regulations.
Four buildings are lined up along the Isenbach and frame the existing farm houses and a new common space located in the south and west of the site. The Isenbachweg serves as access. Additionally, a new path crosses the site from north to south and connects common functions such as parking, a seating area and a playground.
The apartments are facing east west and have generous loggias to the Isenbach or the common outdoor area. The apartments are structured by a middle zone with bathrooms and kitchen which separates the bedrooms from the living area. The apartments can be changed in size during the planning phase due to the flexibility of the plan layout by moving the middle rooms to an adjacent apartment. The apartments can be oriented west or east thereby avoiding the usual stack of identical floor plans and differentiating the facades, giving the buildings a unique appearance in the village.
