This study has been prepared by Hosoya Schaefer Architects to illustrate the concept of vertical farming. The project is featured in the Mobiglobe 3.0 films which the office produced for Autostadt / Volkswagen.
Hosoya Schaefer Architects was invited to participate a competition to design the building complex on the edge of the central park planned in the Masterplan Smartinska implemented by Hosoya Schaefer Architects AG in 2008.
Hiromi Hosoya organized and conducted a student workshop between Akademie der bildenden Künste, Wien and Tokyo University of the Arts, Tokyo in collaboration with Prof. Tom Heneghan, Mitsuhiro Kanada, and Makoto Yokomizo. The workshop was held during May 10 -14, 2010 at the Tokyo University of the Arts.

The custom furniture has been developed in collaboration with Quinze & Milan’s designer Alain Gilles. An earlier concept has been developed with a dutch industrial designer, Jan Melis.
The furniture aims at being as simple and comfortable as possible. The furniture is executed in QM FOAM ™ and powder coated steel tubes.
Hosoya Schaefer is part of a team awarded a grant by the Swiss Federal department for culture for the development of a documentary movie on mobility. The documentary will be produced by Condor Communications (producer: Patrick Müller) and Interscience Film/Gero von Boehm and coauthored by Chris Reuter and Markus Schaefer.
